Beautiful ceramic keychain with the Astronomical Clock with a detail to the astronomical dial.
The Prague Astronomical Clock has been for more than 600 years one of the greatest treasures of the city. The clock was first installed in 1410, making it the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest clock still operating. The medieval tower clock is located on the southern side of the Old Town Hall Tower.
The clock mechanism has three main components — the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details, and 'The Walk of the Apostles'. When the clock strikes the hour, the procession of the Twelve Apostles sets in motion. It is possible to tell from the clock dial what day it is and its position in the week, month, and year. The Astronomical Clock also tracks Central European, Babylonian, and Sidereal time – the last one in the world to do so! It is also possible to see the position of celestial bodies on it. On the calendar with replicas of paintings by Josef Mánes you can see which sign of the zodiac currently reigns.
