Experience in detail
The Dancing House was completed in 1996 and stands on the right bank of the Vltava River at the corner of Rašín's Embankment and Jirásek Square. In the past, a tenement house stood on the same spot, which was accidentally destroyed by an American bomb during the bombing of Prague in 1945. Since then the place was empty until 1994 when the foundation stone of the Dancing House was laid. The Dancing House was designed by Croatian architect Vlado Milunić together with Frank O. Gehry, and their work won the prestigious American Time magazine Design of the Year award in 1996.
The house takes its name from its two towers, which resemble the figures of dancers Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. The dancer is represented by a stone tower and his female partner by a glass tower.
The dancing house hides a high-end restaurant on its 7th floor. The modern restaurant with a fresh interior offers fantastic views of Prague Castle and Hradčany, complemented by traditional, perfectly seasoned gastronomy. Enjoy a quick lunch overlooking Prague and choose from three main courses, finishing your dining experience with dessert.
Note
The composition of the menu may change according to the season and is renewed every week, but the quality and value of the courses remain the same. A vegetarian or vegan menu is not standard but is available by prior arrangement.
