Experience in detail

The Museum of Illusionary Art and Trick Art in Prague is the first museum of its kind in the Czech Republic. Come and have fun with your family, class or friends and discover illusionary art at the Illusion Art Museum Prague.

Not only will you discover beautiful original works by well-known artists, but since most of the works are interactive, you will be able to play and have fun with them. You will take lots of photos where you will be the main character of the stories in the illusionistic processing. These photos will decorate your social networks and become a beautiful memory of an unusual experience in Prague. Right in front of your eyes, 2D images will turn into 3D spaces, and sculptures will turn into paintings. You can try painting with light on your own, learn about the behind-the-scenes creation of each work in our mini cinema and become actors of augmented reality thanks to a new app that animates the works in real-time along with you. You will also find technical anamorphic constructions based on the mathematical principles of optical illusions.

The exhibition is not only about entertainment, but also about education. We place the artistic illusion techniques in a historical context. You will learn who pioneered them, what they were used for in their time, and how perspective and perception of space evolved over time. Some of the works relate directly to important personalities and events in Czech history. You will become the initiators of the illusory defenestration, experience first-hand the siege of Prague by the Swedes, or participate in the fall of the monarchy in Bohemia. You will see illusionary representations of St. Agnes of Bohemia, Bedřich Smetana, Antonín Dvořák, Tomáš Bat'a, St. Wenceslas, Nikola Tesla, Charles IV, Franz Kafka, Karel Čapek, Otto Wichterle, František Kupka, Václav Havel and others.
